We launched the 21-22 school year today with PD that shattered expectations!!  We had over 40 educators on site today for the School on FIRE Institue of Creativity and Innovation.  The training was provided by @BuddyBerry and his very talented daughter Brooke from @EminenceSchools - The time today was spent taking a 30,000-foot view of what it means to become a School on F.I.R.E. There are a ton of pieces to the Framework for Innovation, but one of them includes Surprise and Delight.  It was incredible to see the joy in our teachers and for them to be able to experience firsthand how weaving a concept of surprise and delight into your classroom completely changes a person's ability to learn!! On Monday, we will resume our regular K-12 schedule. We will still be short a few drivers, so the bus routes are under development. The schedule will be sent out tomorrow. The bus will be more full than normal with longer ride times on Monday, but we are excited to have everyone back!

The routes will be longer with more kids on the bus. While not ideal, we are happy to be able to provide some face-to-face instruction for the ES students on Tuesday and Thursday.

The routes will be longer with more kids on the bus. While not ideal, we are happy to be able to provide some face-to-face instruction for the MS/HS students on Monday and Friday. We will still run the high school bus to the career center as normal and athletic practices and events will continue as scheduled for the time being. Adjustments to away trips may need to be made. Coaches will keep you updated. The elementary bus schedule for Tuesday and Thursday will be forthcoming.

In response to the current pandemic, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) are working on a new P-EBT program for the current 2020-2021 school year. The program will provide food benefits to help families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals through the Federal School Breakfast or National School Lunch Programs. If you are not currently approved for free or reduced-price meals and feel you may qualify, please fill out a new application at www.LunchApp.com. Applications can be filled out at any time throughout the remainder of the year if your household income decreases or your household size increases. The State of Michigan will automatically add the benefits to SNAP cards or mail a card to the address on file at the school. To prevent any delays, please make sure the school has your current address. No further action is required if your student is already approved for free or reduced-price meals. If you have any questions regarding P-EBT, please contact the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services at 1-833-905-0028. The local school does not administer the P-EBT program.
